21 Apr Patriotism can be shown at Heritage Days Parade, buttons available
Those with a desire to show patriotism for the country and in the local community, in an open and very special way, are invited to join the 2017 Heritage Days Parade. This year’s theme, The 40s: Liberty, Democracy, Dignity, gives participants the opportunity to pay tribute to a time when great patriotism was alive and well in the United States. Heritage Days begins on Flag Day 2017, June 14, and continues through Sunday, June 18.
The parade will take place on Saturday, June 17 at 10 a.m., and the official colors are red, white and blue. There is a $25 entry fee and a certificate of liability (proof of insurance) should be available. Gerdau Huntington Facility, 25 Commercial Road, is the official sponsor of Heritage Days. Gerdau is one of the largest suppliers of special steel in the world and the leading producers of long steel in the Americas. Gerdau’s special steel North American division specializes in producing special bar quality steel for the automotive, commercial vehicle, agricultural and energy markets.
The official Heritage Days 2017 button is now available for purchase at the Chamber of Commerce office, 305 Warren Street. The button is $2 and depicts a United States Air Force plane used in the 1940s. The plane is a Lockheed T-33A Shooting Star, which was a jet trainer aircraft, and one of the planes on display at Memorial Park as part of the park’s veterans’ memorial.
